Abstract A short squeeze occurs if borrowed shares are recalled and the seller is unable to find another source of shares. This forces terminate a position early. For most stocks, probability very low. Short squeezes, however, not unusual for hardest borrow stocks. these trading costs from squeezes high have significant impact on returns selling. hard-to-borrow sellers also miss out abnormal because force them close positions.
